First Day Letter

  • First day of school is Tuesday August 12th from 8:30 – 11:00.  Breakfast or lunch will not be served.
  • First full day of school is Wednesday, August 13th.
  • School Hours are from 8:30 – 2:45.


Parent Pick-ups

  • Please pick-up and drop off your child before and after school at the parking lot.
  • You will not be able to park in the street.
  • To allow for student dismissal to go more smoothly, you will not be allowed to go to your child’s classroom to pick up your child. 


Student Walkers

  • Students who walk to school need to report to their respective building.
  •  Students who walk to school and eat breakfast need to report to the Multipurpose room before 8:20.  Breakfast will stop being served at 8:20.
  • Put a nametag with the student’s name, phone number, and teacher’s name on kindergarten and first grade students during the first week of the school year.


Tardy Policy

  • When a student arrives after 8:30 the person who brings the child to school needs to report to the office with the student.  A child will be counted tardy if he or she arrives late or leaves early. 
  • Your child will be counted as being absent for half a day if they arrive more than 30 minutes late for school or leaves school 30 minutes early. 
  • The success of your child in school will increase if he or she is there on time and stays for the entire day.



  • If your child is going to be absent, please call the school office.  If you do not call the school office, state law requires us to call your home.  If no on is reached, the absence is unexcused. 


Uniform Policy

  • School uniforms are mandatory for all students.  District policy stipulates that male students cannot wear earrings.
  • Refer to the Uniform Policy for K-8 graders and high school on what is permitted.




Breakfast Program

  • Breakfast will be served each morning for .65 cents.  Reduced breakfast is .30 cents.  There is no charge for students who receive a free lunch. 
  • Students who wish to each breakfast must arrive between 7:50 – 8:20.  Any students arriving after 8:20 will be unable to eat.


Lunch Program

  • The cost of a hot lunch with milk is $1.25 for all grade levels.  Reduced lunch will cost 40 cents. 
  • Students may bring a lunch and purchase a carton of milk for .65 cents. 


Required Immunizations

  • State law require all students entering kindergarten and fifth grade and all new students to the district have a physical examination including a TB test before the first day of school.


Medication at School

  • There will not be a full-time nurse at the school, for that reason we strongly encourage parents to administer prescription drugs to children at home immediately before and/or after school.  If it is necessary that your child receives medication during school hours please obtain a medication form from the school secretary and have it completed and signed by your child’s physician.  No medication at school can be given until this form is received.


Consumable Supplies Fee

  • The fee for consumable supplies is $16.00 for kindergarten and $20.00 for grades 1-12.  Please make the check payable to Cahokia School District.  The fees may be paid at any time during the school day.


Open House

  • A date for Open House has yet been determined due to the renovations and construction of the school.  As soon as a decision is made, we will contact all our families.  We look forward to seeing you at our FIRST Open House.


Parent/Teacher Conferences

  • Conferences will be held on October 30th -31st, 2008, and March 27th, 2009.


Picture Day

  • Fall picture day is September 30th.  Pictures must be purchases on a prepaid basis only.  Students are not required to wear uniforms on this day.  However, the school dress code still applies.


School Improvement Days

  • Students will be dismissed at 12:30 on the following dates: September 26, 2008 and May 20, 2009.


Student Health Concerns

  • If your child has chicken pox, measles, ringworm, mumps, pink eye, impetigo, and/or head lice, he/she will not be allowed to return to school until a note is provided by a physician. 


School Insurance

  • School insurance will be available and applications with prices will be sent home shortly after the beginning of school.
